I saw this scene tonight on my way home and fortunately there wasn't a car behind me, quick screach of brakes and a quick reverse into a lay by.
The small tower is a folly that was built in the gardens of Lyme Park, the stately house that was used in the BBC series of "Pride & Prejudice".
The folly known as the cage is supposed to have a secret underground passage that connected Lyme to Bramhall Hall, another beautiful stately home in the Tudor Style. It was apparently built so the ladies and friends of the family could easily follow the progress of the Stag hunts. This explains it's positioning upon the hill top.
I love evening shots when the sun takes on that warm pale amber feel giving a touch of the "painted" look and I had to have this picture. :)

For those interested here is a [link] for Lyme Hall and Lyme park.

It's beautiful! You just gave me a terrific case of general home-sickness, my friend! Not for this particular area (which I wish I had visited when I had the chance, because it looks wonderful), but for this whole rolling hills, big old trees, hedgerows, cloudy skies, little houses tucked away somehwere, a bit of history thrown in mix that is still rural England. (Okay will brew me a pot of tea now, stare at the screen and mope for a bit - in a good way!)

Thanks, Bernie!

Don't worry, it's good! Nothing like some good nostalgia and home-sickness once in a while - lovely!
