Youlgreave Church

I keep posting stained glass of Youlgreave so I thought a picture of the church it's self was in order.

It's a classic English village church and really rather pretty when you see it for real. It has a very calm and peaceful atmosphere which I tried to capture but a photograph can't come close.

On the first pillar on the left is a carving of a 12th century pilgrim and he is probably an original tenant as there are records of the church going back to 1150 in the Domesday Book. Our government's first attempt to know who and what was happening in the kingdom.

Odd that I find church architecture so interesting and yet be so not Christian.
